Departmental emergency fund expenditure files, 1964-1968.

The appropriation bill sets aside an amount of money for use as an emergency appropriation fund. Any department or agency within the state may apply and receive allotments from this emergency fund for any purpose for which no specific appropriation has been made or for which an insufficient appropriation has been made (Ala. Code, Title 55, Section 105 [1958 Recompiled]). This series consists of correspondence documenting the expenditure of funds from the Departmental Emergency Fund. Information available in this series includes details of fund transfers from the Departmental Emergency Fund to the Governor's Emergency Fund (schedule SX-1-68) or to the Govornor's Mansion Fund (schedule SX-1-71), and details of fund transfers to individual agencies for personnel and other expenses. These records were created during the administration of Governors George Corley Wallace (1963-1967) and Lurleen Wallace (1967-1968).
